Kaber Cup `25

It’s time for the Kaber Cup! After an incredible performance last year where the Residents triumphed with 31.5 points to 24.5, with Zacharias van den Berg named the Most Valuable Tournament Player (MVTP), this year’s showdown will be between Team Louie and Team Clyde.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, November 8th, and Sunday, November 9th, 2025, featuring 2 exciting matchups:


Saturday morning: Betterball Matchplay
Sunday: Singles Matchplay

A total of 45 points are up for grabs, with 1 point awarded for a win and 1/2 point for a halved match. The first team to reach 23 points will claim victory.

Kit handouts will take place on Friday the 7th, from 16:00 to 18:00, on the clubhouse patio. If you`re unable to pick up your shirts during this time, alternatively at 7:30 Saturday at the pro shop.

After the Betterball on Saturday morning, a Build-a-Burger station and Live Band will be available, and on Sunday, a pizza buffet will follow the game with the prize giving.

Team Louie (Saturday): Grey Shirts & Black Bottoms
Team Louie (Sunday): White Shirts & Grey Bottoms
Team Clyde (Saturday): Lime Green Shirts & Black Bottoms
Team Clyde (Sunday): Royal Blue Shirts & Beige / White Bottoms

Rules & Conditions

The R&A Rules of Golf will apply throughout the tournament. The format will be Matchplay as per Rule 3.2.
Teeing areas: Men - White; 60 + yr Men - Blue or White (change of tees between matches allowed e.g. Foursomes Blue, Betterball White etc.), Better Ladies/Juniors - Red
The Els Club Local Rules will apply.
As it is Matchplay, players and opponents must agree on the result of the hole before making a stroke on the next hole. Please verify final results before returning your scorecard. Scorecards/results to be handed in at the Golf Shop.
Please take note of the penalties if late for tee-off (Rule 5.3)
The Captains will do the draw for the Singles on Saturday afternoon after the Betterball game.
Any rulings will be done by the Captains.

Saturday Morning- Game 1:
Betterball Matchplay. Lowest handicap in 4 ball goes to 0. 90% handicap allowance to be used.

Sunday Morning - Game 2:
Singles Matchplay. Lowest handicap in singles match goes to 0. No handicap allowance to be used.

1 point for a win and 1/2 a point for a match halved.

Rain delays / Match results;
For a match to have a result, 9 holes needs to be completed. Whatever the match status is at that time (e.g. 2 up after 12 holes) would be the match result.
For a Game to have an outcome, more than 50% of all matches must have a match result.
In the event of a tie the Kaber Cup will be shared.
